We travel to the Great Caucasus Mountains. We start from Tbilisi in the morning and visit the ancient capital of Georgia – Mtskheta witht Jvari Monastery (6th century) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century) – both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Then continue to the Great Caucasus Mountains along the famous Georgian Military Highway en-route visiting Ananuri Complex (17th century). Then we pass Gudauri ski resort (2200m), Cross Pass (2395m) and arrive in Kazbegi – the main town in the region. Overnight in Kazbegi in the family guesthouse (with shared facilities). Next morning we start our pleasant 2-hour walk uphill to Gergeti Trinity Church (14th century). Weather permitting you will have a chance to see Mt. Kazbegi (5033m) – one of the highest summits in the Caucasus. Late afternoon return to Tbilisi.
